As of 12:30pm on Wednesday, June 24th, North Carolina reached 56,174 positive coronavirus cases with 1,271 deaths statewide.

On June 24th, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order for the State of North Carolina, going into effect on Friday, June 26th at 5:00pm.

Face coverings are now required when in public places, indoors or outdoors, where social distancing of at least 6 feet is not possible. Facial coverings are required for all employees and customers for retail businesses and restaurants as well as employees working in manufacturing, construction, meat processing and agricultural settings.

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with those affected by Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world. Anchor Ridge is committed to continuing the work of the Lord and meeting as many needs in the Appalachian Mountains as possible.

As the situation of this virus continues to evolve, we would like to share the steps that we’re taking to keep our team members and families that we serve safe:

– Ensuring that excellent hand washing practices are followed

– Requiring all volunteers and staff displaying symptoms to stay home

– Frequently disinfecting commonly touched surfaces in all areas of our facility and facilities Anchor Ridge uses for distributions / events.

– To be in compliance with North Carolina Governor Cooper’s executive order, effective 6/26/2020, Anchor Ridge will require all staff, volunteers, recipients and others to wear a facial covering before entering any Anchor Ridge facility and at all times while inside the facility.

Large Public Events (‘Block Party’)

Following the guidance of the CDC, we’ve taken steps to minimize large gatherings.

Large ministry events (“Block Parties”) planned through July 30th have been removed from our schedule and will be scheduled for later in the year.

Distribution events and outreach efforts that do not facilitate an assembly of a large crowd in a venue will not be affected and will remain in operation.

Child Sponsorship (‘Kid’s Club’)

Our child sponsorship program, ‘Kids Club’, will remain open! Our team will make every effort to ensure each child and family receives their provisional items without congregating or being assembled with other families. Our team will take extra precautions by wearing gloves, using hand sanitizer and practice frequent hand washing to ensure we don’t cross contaminate.

Volunteer Events

Anchor Ridge depends on our volunteers to fulfill our mission and calling! Regularly scheduled Volunteer Nights at our Processing Center are fully operational on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm – 8pm. We require our volunteers to wear facial coverings and gloves. Our Volunteer Services Coordinator will also assist our volunteers in following appropriate social distancing guidelines.

We are continually monitoring the situation and will provide updates as circumstances may change.
