Anchor Ridge Distributes More Than 3,000 Summer Meals to Children Across Western North Carolina
WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA — As schools close for the summer and many children lose access to regular school meals, Anchor Ridge and its community partners are stepping in to help ensure families continue to have access to nutritious food.
Since June 1, Anchor Ridge has distributed more than 1,000 meals each week throughout Western North Carolina, providing critical support to families facing food insecurity during the summer months. Through partnerships with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Vision, Feed the Children, and other organizations, these large-scale food distributions have already resulted in more than 3,000 meals being served.
For many children, the end of the school year also means the loss of dependable breakfast and lunch programs. Summer can become a challenging season for families already struggling to make ends meet. Recognizing this need, Anchor Ridge and its partners have worked together to ensure that children continue receiving nutritious meals when they need them most.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and partner organizations, meals are being provided at an average cost of just $1 per meal, allowing every contribution to make a significant impact. What might seem like a small donation can help provide food, stability, and hope for children and families across the region.
“Our goal is simple: no child should have to wonder where their next meal will come from,” said Anchor Ridge leadership. “By working together with community partners, volunteers, and supporters, we’re able to reach more families and make a lasting difference during the summer months.”
The weekly distributions have become an important resource for communities throughout the region, bringing together volunteers, nonprofits, churches, and local organizations in a shared effort to combat hunger and support children.
As summer continues, Anchor Ridge remains committed to expanding its reach and ensuring that families have access to the food they need. Community members who would like to support the effort can help by volunteering, donating, or partnering with future food distributions!
