Kevin Rowlands, a Scout of Troop 447 in Port Orange, Florida recently completed his Eagle Scout Project and wanted to make a difference in the lives of Appalachian Mountain families. Having been to Anchor Ridge in the past to serve on a mission trip with his church, Kevin had seen for himself and knew the need was tremendously great in the Appalachian Mountains. Being determined to give back and wanting to make a difference in the lives of families in desperate need, Kevin held local fundraising events and raised enough money to pack 8,754 meals for Appalachian Mountain families!
Kevin and his family made the 9 hour trip to Anchor Ridge to deliver these meal kits. The meals will be processed by volunteers at our North Carolina distribution center and hand-delivered to families in need on March 25th in southwest Virginia.
